The Center for Technology Workforce Innovation (CTWI)’s mission is to build the technology workforce of the future by supporting organizations and initiatives that strengthen and expand the nation’s technology talent pool (K-12 through career).

We accomplish this by providing program management, project management, operational oversight, research, and evaluation services to both on-campus and off-campus partners.

Our Work

With our experienced program staff and research faculty, we are able to support large, national programs, as well as both small and large social science research and evaluation projects.Ìý

Program Management

Operational oversight and program management for all NCWIT programs, including:Ìý

Program Evaluation
  • Program Evaluation for all NCWIT programs (Aspirations in Computing, Counselors for Computing, Teach Engineering).
  • Project evaluation for Learning Community Clusters in Higher Education.
  • Program evaluation for Colorado School of Mines K-12 outreach project.
  • Data collection (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Program evaluation design for scientific research programs.
Training & Professional Development
  • Training of industry groups on research-based culture change and hiring practices.
  • Training of higher ed computing, information sciences, and engineering departments on research-based organizational change.
  • Consulting with computing and engineering departments across the nation on improving the Broader Impacts sections of NSF proposals with concrete programs and plans.
  • Working with a consortium of community colleges on widening inclusion in computing departments.
Research
  • Our research faculty conduct primary and secondary social science research, including grant-funded projects exploring levers of organizational change, historical trends in the participation of different demographics in tech education and innovation.
  • We also develop materials for NCWIT and other entities that share trend statistics and research-backed practices for distribution among the tech community.
Strategic Planning
  • Guided strategic planning for academic departments, government entities, and industry units.
  • Facilitation of strategic conversations.
