Dr. Sara SawyerÌýis an internationally recognized expert in virology. In 2011, she received theÌýPECASE awardÌýfrom President Barack Obama at the White House, and in 2022 was awarded theÌýNIH Director’s Pioneer Award. Dr. Sawyer is a co-founder ofÌýDarwin Biosciences, where she serves on the Board of Directors. She sits on theÌýNIH Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council, and acts as a consultant to the US government on issues related to global health and pandemic preparedness.ÌýHer research focuses on zoonotic viruses, including HIV-1.ÌýShe holds a PhD from Cornell University.
