Communications,ÌýAssistant Dean for Communications

Julie is a strategic communications leader with 20 years of experience in higher education. She is skilled at developing clear, compelling messages, fostering collaborative teams and creating systems that make organizations work more effectively. Her experience spans executive and internal communications, brand storytelling, and stakeholder engagement, with an emphasis on connecting diverse audiences to an institution’s mission and impact. Julie has held leadership roles at the University of California Berkeley, the University of Chicago, the University of Denver and Sandia National Laboratories. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, kayaking and restoring the historic Denver home she shares with her wife.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications
    • Aligns college communications with campus and college strategic goals and initiatives
    • Joins college and campus efforts to integrate communications with strategy
  • External Relations
    • Plans and edits content for the College of Arts and Sciences' magazine.
    • Oversees broadcast-email communications with alumni, donors, and others
    • Collaborates with administrators, faculty, and others to field media inquiries as needed
    • Oversees and manages the college’s social-media channels
    • Collaborates with larger campus-communications group
  • Publicity
    • Oversees publicity for selectiveÌýcollege events
  • Website Oversight
    • ​Oversees and manages the college, , and websites
    • Collaborates with the Academic Advising Center and Units regarding department websites
